Land Use and Development: Our Services
We assist public and private sector clients in all aspects of land use planning and development, including:
• Representation before courts, tribunals and public authorities
• Negotiation and preparation of land development agreements
• Litigation involving land disputes
• Advising on land management and value enhancement strategies
• Acting as counsel to municipalities and private sector proponents on development charges matters
As counsel, we have appeared before the courts, the Ontario Municipal Board, and municipal councils and committees regarding:
• Official plan amendments
• Zoning amendments
• Subdivision and condominium plans and agreements
• Minor variances
• Site plan approvals and agreements
• Consents to sever
• Licensing and regulatory issues
• Housing co-operatives
We recognize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to land use. We regularly work with planners, urban designers, architects, engineers, environmental scientists, appraisers, land use economists, demographers, and development consultants to provide a comprehensive analysis of development situations.
We have an in-house land use planner, Maria Jones, to assist us in providing interdisciplinary service. We also have an arrangement with the University of Waterloo School of Planning to provide internships to student planners.
